Module 1 Reflection

I am feeling both excited and eager to continue learning about technology in the classroom. I started teaching 16 years ago, and as technology became more commonplace in my classroom, I have experienced many benefits mentioned in the article, including personalized learning for students, maximizing time, and greater communication with families. One benefit mentioned in the article that stood out to me was that technology can help maximize the time I have as a teacher and alleviate some of the workload. It will be interesting to see how my thinking and implementation of classroom technology changes as my knowledge and proficiency in this area grows. My goal going into this program is to tap into my creative side and learn how to bring new learning experiences to my students, and beyond my classroom in the future. The lesson plan project is a good way for me to begin working on that goal. I want to challenge myself to try things I have been too intimidated to try before. I'm excited to learn how to use more Google programs and learn more advanced skills with the programs I am already familiar with. When it came to computational thinking, I appreciated the connection to everyday uses of the 5 components, for example seeing Pattern Recognition in spelling rules and multiplication or seeing Abstraction in the simplification of the angry bird's design. I'm eager to see how learning more about computational thinking will help me make more effective decisions in my classroom, and in everyday life. Looking forward to Module 2 and continuing the fun.
